Church Hangouts

Church is more than Sunday. Every one to two months we get together after the service for our Church Hangout – to go bouldering, play sports, bake biscuits, share a meal or simply spend an afternoon together in Leipzig.

No programme, no pressure: just good people, good food and time to really get to know each other. Whether you’ve been part of GCI for years, just moved to Leipzig or have never been to church – you’re warmly invited.

What a hangout can look like

What are Church Hangouts?

Church Hangouts are relaxed get-togethers of Generations Church International that take place every one to two months. Each time we do something different: sometimes we’re active, sometimes creative, sometimes we just sit together and talk.

The idea is simple. Faith grows best where people share life – not only on Sunday afternoons, but also on the climbing wall, in the kitchen or on a picnic blanket. That’s where friendships start that carry us through the rest of the week.

Who can come?

Everyone! Our hangouts are a great way to get to know GCI without having to come to a service first. Many of us moved to Leipzig from abroad – as students, for work or with our families – and know how hard it can be to make friends in a new city.

So feel free to bring your flatmates, colleagues or friends along. You don’t need to speak German, and you don’t need to believe anything in particular. Just come as you are.

How to join the next hangout

We announce every Church Hangout in our events calendar, on Instagram and in our Telegram group, usually a few weeks in advance. There you’ll find the date, the meeting point and whether there’s anything to bring or pay for (for example the entry fee at the bouldering gym).

Got an idea for a hangout or want to help plan one? Just talk to us after the service or send us a message – we love new ideas.
